Windows is indeed the top dedicated server currently available in this time. This has been the universal truth for the past 15 years. From the very first version of the Windows Dedicated Server namely the 3.1 version up to the latest version of Windows 7, it has been able to outshine other operating systems that offer the same services.

I believe linux is the major OS for the hosting world. However there are highly demanded servers on windows at such hosts as webintellects,for example

Not sure Windows is regarded best by most people. Just look at the statistics for global web servers - it is dominated by Linux.

Before few years linux has main word for servers but with windows 2003 and 2008 things are changed. Also everyone who learn how to use linux will continue with that option but you need to try other side and see hows goind so you can make decision.

both have their own benefit, in windows can run all the sw and perfect for any type of sites but expensive. Linux is cheap but not run all application on it especially MS product
