Server Uptime and Network Uptime?

How do you discriminate between server and network uptime? Dop you think it's important to tell one from another if your host says 100% uptime guarantee?

Absolutely, uptime % is referring to network services provided by the host. When you take into consideration server uptime, your factoring in areas that are typically controlled by the consumer and consumer error.

On a shared server, it is hard to differentiate both. I guess ultimately both bleong to the hosts resposnsibility in shared hosting.

Your right, although in most cases Shared Hosting providers who do not own their datacenter are not able to control network uptime.

re

Network uptime would be defined as the internal systems that process bandwidth and network traffic.

Server uptime would be defined by the physical hardware uptime and how long the server can stay online.

The network uptime is normally much better than hardware uptime as the network doesn't have as many parts to fail as a server does.

Exactly my sentiments. I agree that network uptime has much weight than the server uptime. But to be safe, one must find for webhosting companies that offer maximum uptime and superb performance. The company that uses equipment with superior quality is often the most reliable. Also look for back-up services under the long list of benefits, so that your data will be safe and secure. Thank you.
