Angry globat.com = No Service!

On Approximately Thursday, April 17, 2003 I signed up with globat's web hosting service. By Saturday, my account went "live" and I had access to my email and other services through globat. However, by the end of that same day, I lost all access to globat's services including the ability to send or retrieve any email.
I double-checked all my settings, tried setting up a new test mailbox, etc., and determined that the problem was not on my end.

This is when I first emailed globat's technical support. Through the weekend and into Monday, I continued to check my settings and continued to attempt to reach tech support via email and finally by phone. None of my emails were returned. The phone system was worse. I was set up a loop preventing me from ever accessing any options to contact anyone about the problem. I continued to email every department listed on the site in the hope that someone would respond. I probably sent 20-30 email over the course of 2-3 days. I also tried to call several more times (NOTE: This is a toll-call and cost me money every time!)

After nearly three days of this and with no response I began to fear that the company was a scam. Still without email, frustrated and angry I knew I could no longer take a chance and had to quickly research another web host. I found another one with positive feedback ratings and signed up.

In the meantime, I began to receive a few vague responses to some of my earlier messages. I was told that a manager was in the process of "rebuilding" my mailboxes, and various other messages that were automated or generic responses of no use to me.

BUT THE WORST OCCURRENCE WAS THIS: In the middle of these intermittent responses I received an email that was in response to ANOTHER GLOBAT USER WHICH CONTAINED THAT USER'S PERSONAL USERNAME AND PASSWORD FOR HIS GLOBAT ACCOUNT! I couldn't believe it!

A day or two later, I received a phone call from Court Kaiser (spelling?) who was very apologetic, admitted that they had screwed up and ASSURED me that my account would be cancelled and that I'd receive an email from the billing dept. with confirmation of the cancellation and refund. That email never came.

I received my most recent credit card statement which contains the charge from globat WITHOUT ANY CREDIT!

I immediately tried to phone Court Kaiser, but his extension was no longer in service. I called the main number three more times (again, these calls at MY expense!) and finally got a person to answer, was transferred to billing and told by the gentlemen there was nothing he could do to help me, that I would need to email Court Kaiser at ck@globat.com. I also CC'd the billing and sales dept. on these emails, but have only heard back from "Vivien" who has said she'd forward it to the cancellation dept. I've yet to hear back from anyone.

Thumbs up RE: globat.com = No Service!

I had the opportunity to help this gentleman based on a post I found on another message board. His payment was promptly issued and arrived as promised.

It is the policy of Globat to issue refunds on any account that has not violated our AUP and has made the request with the first 15 days.

Globat a Terrible Service

Do not purchase server space from Globat web hosting service!

Glob@t practices what I consider to be unfair business methods. If you sign up for a year, you will find that at the end of that year, without so much as a renewal letter, they will bill you for an additional year. A couple of days later, they will cut off your service.

If you call them to cancel, they will not communicate that there is only ONE way to cancel, to use their cancellation request form. You will think that you are officially cancelled.

Six months later, without so much as sending you a bill, they will submit you to collections, for the amount of $267.45. Glob@t’s rate is $94.45/year.

Furthermore, their server is constantly down. They tout a transfer rate of 80-120k, and it is actually below 40k. Their technical support is horrible. Their trouble tickets, in my opinion, are as worthless as spam. Business web hosting and ecommerce with this company is not affordable web hosting if they lack support.

I strongly suggest using other domain hosting plans, such as at http://www.ipowerweb.com.

Globat.com : worse than those loosters in New Orleans

I have the similar situation. First month my site was up and running. But after 30 days, my site was down 50% of the time, my emails lost. Called them and cancelled but never receive any refund. Then I call my credit card to put a charge back, 1 week later I got their email:

As per our user agreement, located online at

http://www.globat.com/legal/index.ph...=userAgreement

which you agreed to when you applied for an account with us, you are still personally responsible
for our fees as well as all future collection fees.

In accordance with section 3.5 of said user agreement we are hereby terminating your account with Globat.com for cause and have added a $150.00 breach of contract fee as well as a $25.00 late fee to your total amount owed to us. We will hand your account over to our collections department within 10 days of this notice. This might result in negative remarks on your credit history or garnishment of your wages or your bank account. We also reserve the right to place your name, contact and
credit information on the Internet's ISP blacklist, which might prevent you from purchasing items over the Internet in the future or your current Internet access or hosting account being cancelled.

If you wish to avoid futher collection activity, please contact our billing office Monday - Sunday between 9.00am and 5.30pm PT at (323) 874-9000 within one week of this notice to discuss this matter.

They are worse than those looters in New Orleans! Avoid them!

Warn your friends and family!

Please warn your all your friends and family to stay away from Globat. If you have a website please display a warning on your site about using any of Globat's services.

I have the same story as everyone else, they will not cancel my account, will not answer my emails, will not answer my phone calls, and just keep charging my card.

Also, I am urging everyone to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Together we can stop the madness!!
