Avoid GoDaddy.com for email

GoDaddy.com offers low prices and reliable hosting. The problem is that their customer support is non-existant and their email is virtually worthless.

Their email is the main reason to avoid them. They are overly paranoid about spam! This causes them to make unreasonable policies regarding the blocking of email. They block a huge numbers of ip addresses. I get constant complaints from people I do business with that their messages to me are returned saying they are spam. For a while, a friend who uses roadrunner as his isp was blocked because they were blocking several ip addresses assigned to Road Runner. In fact, when I tried to sign up for this FindMyhost forum, I didn't receive any of the confirming emails from FindMyhost.com - I had to use a hotmail account to finally get confirmed.

Use GoDaddy for web hosting, if you must, but NEVER use them for email.

BTW, their support people seem to be unaware of this policy. You can confirm this, as I did, by sending email to the president through the link on their site. The person who contacted me confirmed that this was their policy and that they would rather block legitimate email than to let more spam through. This may be fine for YOUR email but I can't operate with unreliable email.

I've the same experience with Namesecure.com
I didn't realized at first that my emails are missing until one of my customers call me and ask why I didn't reply to his email. There is no indication back to my customer that their email is block etc.

I was so frustrated because I'm running a business website, and could you imagine how many customer I would have lost?

From this experience, I had decided not to choose popular web hosts as they are frequent target for spam.

It is very hard for host these days to keep client;s happy on both ends of the spectrum. Some will say not enough Spam is blocked and others will say legitimate mail is blocked as well. It is a good idea to fins a host that allows a white list in your CP to allow emails from any email domains you like. Also find one that only blocks IPs if they are listed on popular RBL list like SpamHaus and SpamCop not just because they feel like it.

Ask these question before you sign up with your next host.

Do you use email service as part of their domaining or hosting services?

We are constantly being told " I sent you an email...". I have to look for a host that allows me more control over spam. Thats what brought me here...
