Your experience with Green Hosts...

What's your experience with Green hosts? Is there any certificate that allows a host to clain he's green?

Well, of course not, grre hosting is environmentall friendly web hosting, those who offer anything like
Quote:
By choosing a hosting company from this page, you can both have a host with first class customer service and positively contribute to reducing the global warming. And that, at the same low prices as with the most competitive non green hosts!
.

I read that there are actually two ways of being environmentally-friendly and this is either to use renewable energy, and imountain.com is one of these companies or to buy certificate contributing too the cause of global warming reduction. And the companies doing the latter are in majority, they may be offering trees planted on your behalf, work from solar powered offices, and total peace of mind.
You may find the complete list of gree web hosting companies at b2evolution.net, the top being Globat.com, Hostgator.com and Webhostingbuzz.com.

Whenever I need quality hosting, I'm mostly interested in the server uptime, and not in the fact whether the host is green or not. That's my point of view.
Theough the companies mentioned in the previous post Globat.com and Webhostingbuzz.com are known as stable hosting providers with a large clientbase.

I don't like "green companies" as they aren't very reliable.

Oops, I have completely overlooked one of the A2hosting.com "green" offers
http://www.a2hosting.com/green_hosting.php
It now looks like I'm using a green host as well.

Medal, what exactly makes your host green? Do they plant trees or something? How do companies obtain these green badges?
