I'm new and would like some advice

I am building a site for my girlfriends dad's business. it's only a really simple html site with information, contact information and a few images.

What do you guys think the best host for it would be?

Also, how do you work out how much space (as in mg or gig) I would need?

Shared

Definately a low cost shared plan. There are a ton of affordable shared hosts out there. I would go with the one who has the best track record.

FindMyHost.com has a good list of shared hosts to pick from. I just did a quick look over there and found quite a few affordable shared providers.

As for factoring storage space, you ca do that by limiting your image sizes. Unless our going to have a lot of photo galleries, you should be fine on almost any shared web host.

Any reliable shared hosting would be enough. Tny plan from asmallorange.com must do. Thats all the resources you need and the company doesn't oversell.

If you are not limited in time I advise you not to rush. First look up and compare several offerings before you choose!

I also would recommend you take a look at static content plan of hqhost.net - it is really profitable for sites like yours.

You also may look up some free hosting, if that business is not internet related. There are some quite good free hosting companies.

I absolutely agree with guys that shared hosting will be the best solution for your project. As for recommendation, Marblehost.com will be nice solution for you, as it focused only on delivering shared hosting plans. This company knows how to do their job qualified. It has a number of free bonuses: free domain, website builder and the PHP scripts installer.

Check up the offer of Webhostgiant.com - their shared deals are really cheap and feature rich.

What kind of business is your site for? If this is not internet related I think you'll be satisfied with cheap low resources plan.

If to talk about Webhostgiant.com - they provide 25GB of space and 1000 GB of bandwidth (which will be more than enough for new project) for as low price as 2.79 dollars.

Good luck!

For your needs, OP, I'd advise you cheap and reliable services from ahosting.biz, powweb.com and webhostingbuzz.com.
These companies offer their services on nice conditions and all you need to contact them to find out some nuances in case of having some questions.
