uptime guarantee

Do you believe in 100% uptime guarantee?

I do not.
But most of companies do offer 99 etc % uptime guarantee. And they do provide that. And they are the honest ones. I think that companies like Exmasters.com or Aspnix.com or Site5.com which has been doing good uptime for more then 5 Years can be considered as respected ones. And they do not offer 100% uptime - they just do what they guarantee

The problem with the up time guarantee is the explanation of it. If a host states it has 100% up time - of course this can be looked as non truth as the local network in the data center may be up all the time but the connection to it can be down for multiple reasons. But most companies are referring to the data center connectivity uptime rather than the connectivity to the data center.

So, if you can believe - it really cannot be said but depends on your experience with specific host and your vision of the uptime "thing" .

Good Luck!

100% uptime is certainly feasible because nowadays we have redundancy everywhere but again there is always the unexpected things.

100% uptime guarantee may only be reached if the datacenter is l;ocated in paradise...

Briefly, I think it is practically possible.

There will be no 100% uptime as there might be any possible unexpected happenings.

You will find no host having 100% uptime. The most possible is 99.99% or 99.9+%

If a host is offering 100% uptime, you should read the fine print of the terms and conditions. There are probably exceptions posted there.

No one is able to provide 100% uptime. Everything may happen. 100% is not more than a trick.

One has to be realitic with the uptime expectations and guarantees. In dedicated hosting, probably most good hosts would be able to offer nearly 100% guarantee in most months. In shared hosting, 99.9% will be very nice, but most of the hosts offer the same and deliver much lower than that.

It is important to know how the host calculate the uptime(only network? less than 30 mts at a time not calculated? any third party monitoring? We dont see any issues here type of arguments?). Also how they compensate for the down time. One shared host told me that they never had an issue with downtime and so doesnt have a policy to compensate

Network uptime might be 100% guaranteed. For example downtownhost.com provides this guarantee and it is very real.

But if it is server uptime, similar question is Do you believe in God? It might exist, but no one have ever seen it

I never believe on it. 100 % hosts will be having some downtime. I check many reviews and up time report of top host. Some of them one month 100% but coming months 98 99 etc

I think when talk is about network uptime - it is really possible to guarantee it by 100%, unlike server uptime. Network usually has several sources of back up and downtownhost.com, being quite reliable provider would not state 100% guarantee if it would be impossible...IMO

Mind has changed recently: 100% uptime is possible only if it is related to the network. Hosts like downtownhost.com, which are considered as reliable and honest ones provide this percentage of uptime. This is possible I suppose!
