Do you know something of Litespeed server? - Host Discussion Blog

Could someone share some information about the LiteSpeed server? This is what simplehelix.com uses for their servers as a base, instead of Apache.

It is stated on the site that it is much faster than apache, thus information would be processed faster and everything will be faster at the server you host a site...

But why then it is not as popular as Apach, being faster and better?

Maybe someone has experience and could clear the situation?

I can say that simplehelix.com is majorly involoved in eCommerce business, so there is a chance that this server type is the best solution for hostin eCommerce sites.

However it is only a guessing, which might be wrong. Need to be checkd first.

simplehelix.com is a good provider as I know, that means trhe LiteSpeed server is functionate, fast and appreciated by people. I think their eCommerce direction influenced their choise.

It is definitely connected with eCommerce specialization of simplehelix.com. The Litespeed has certain differencies to Apache, and thus some applications do not work properly without tweaking and adjustment.

Asking at the other places I have got almost the same answers. So guess simplehelix.com is best of all for eCommerce, and this litespeed is a part of their specialization.

I have heard that version 3.0 supports all kinds of control panels including cPanel which was unavailiable earlier.

Yeah, simplehelix.com is reliable company which provide amazing speed. It offers 100% applications compatibility and price is affordable I think.

LiteSpeed Web Servers... at least the enterprise edition comes at a price of... something called $$. Most hosts don't want to spend the money to get a enterprise edition of litespeed. Apache does the job and is free with wide support.... however true performance comes when using the LiteSpeed Web Server and a provider who utilizes it.

I have heard that Litespeed server is 5 - 7 times faster than Apache and Zeus and I think that simplehelix.com is the company which do its best to suit the clients needs. This company has nice reputation.

I only know this is the fastest existant webserver. But the speed is not advantage, but a compensation of lesser functionality

I think that simplehelix.com knows how to provide qualitative services. Litespeed is very good server. No doubt, it will be great to deal with this company. Hope to try it in the future.

Litespeed and Lighthttpd are great for serving static content. For PHP pages, they would make small improvement, but not as much as one would expect.
