American Discount Web Hosting Woes I have been having problems getting my web hosting company, American Discount Web Hosting (ADWH) to respond to my support trouble tickets. For example, I used Outlook Express to access an email account associated with a site that was hosted on ADWH. One day it just stopped working for no apparent reason. I sent a support ticket to tech support about this and got no response for about a month. I sent another ticket. This was in October 2005! I NEVER received any kind of response from them. They have a link for a knowledge base on the admin page - it has only 3 items! I logged in today to check my email through the admin page. They use a really crappy e-mail client called Horde. I tried to delete my old mail but it kept throwing an error. Of course there was a help button, unfortunately it contains no info. I ended up having to delete the entire email account and recreate it to get rid of the old emails.
After this I decided I had had enough of ADWH's non-existent tech support. I submitted another support ticket, not really expecting to ever get a response. I told them that not receiving any response for previous questions for 7 months was unacceptable. I also told them that their email client was pathetic. Basically, I told them that they SUCK and I was going to find a new host.
To my surprise, about an hour after I submitted this ticket, I logged in to my admin page and was informed that my account was suspended and to point my domain away from their server immediately. On my admin page I was left with 3 links, one of which was for submitting a ticket. I submitted another ticket that said something to the effect that it was too bad they didn’t respond that quickly to tech support questions and that I was starting to wonder if anyone actually read the tickets.
Now they have taken away the 3 remaining links on my admin page. All it says is that the account is suspended. Because they have treated me with so little respect, I am making it my mission to tell others about my negative experience with American Discount Web Hosting in the hopes of saving them the aggravation of dealing with this company.
I have already registered with another hosting company. Hopefully they value their customers more than ADWH. They do at least actually have information in their online knowledge base, so that is a plus. |
