Does anyone know where I can get a message board that has a lot of features like vbulletin...but different?

One I used to use that is fully customizable is snitz forums, it is programmed with asp and uses an accesss database. its really a nice forum with lots of mods.

I would recommend Invisionboard provided your server has support for PHP.
Snitz is asp based and therefore is more orientated around windows based servers - it also has its fair share of security holes.

Rep Power: 0 | depending on what type of site you are running I normally provide free hosting for some of my clients (beginner package) in exchange for advertisement.
If you are looking for a board use invision board stay away from phpbb if you plan to have alot of users. I program and see alot of vulnerabilites in phpbb.

I am planning to buy a domain sometime with php and cgi...that way I can have a message board.
I'm still looking for a host, though.

It is perl, it's free, and is very highly regarded. It is also open source software so it is frequently updated. http://www.yabbforum.com/
