I am no usability expert, but for most sites, I guess two. It depends on the nature of site actually, doing a kids site is a lot different than a corporate site.

Exactly it depands on your logo design. Designer should follow the color as per the logo. Some additional color may come but that should be matchable with the logo color.

I think sticking to 2 colors would be pretty boring. Add more impact to the site by using more color!

Rather than using multiple colors, using different shades of the selective tow-three colors is wise decision from my point of view.

I think 3-4 colors are ok. Now it depends if you use them for text or also for graphics.

It honestly depends on the design. A good website is like laying out an ad or a magazine.

It isn't the number of colors that is important; it is selecting the correct colors to include in the overall color scheme. Some colors do not work well together, and others do. Some of the most beautiful web designs have incorporated anywhere from two colors, to twelve.

Basically there are six colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. In addition to these basic colors, we have extra colors mixes of the basic colors. Choose colors for your websites according to your own taste and end up with the colors that just look good in combination with each other. Mostly its better to prefer light colors.

Thumbs up

Hello,

Colors on a website depends upon the website theme, logo & design. I think you can take good combination of 3-4 colors.
