Shared Hosting: Good or bad?

hi ,

What are the benefits of shared hosting? Surely the cost is much less than a dedicated server or co-location, but is sharing a server with others a safe thing to do if you depend on your website to earn a living?

Hi,
It all depends on the type of website you want to host and also the
type of host you choose. If it is a small to medium size website it is
much cheaper option to choose shared hosting. On the other hand, if you
use a hosting company which oversells (i.e.: hosting more domains on a
single server than the server is capable of) it would be a non reliable
solution, with service outages/poor performance/etc.

Hello,
Depend upon the site and the host you are going to choose, If your host is reliable and dont oversell possibly you are in safe however most of the reliable shared web hosting service providers comes with sufficient disk space and bandwidth to be more than enough for small businesses.
Warm regards.

There's advantages and disadvantages.

In a shared platform, you have access to the server's full RAM and cpu. Unlike a VPS (guaranteed amounts, but low) or a dedicated server (could be budget, or higher priced). Also, your provider takes care of all security and upgrades needed on the server.

The disadvantage is mostly in that another user can have a script loop nonstop by mistake, which affects the loading of your sites (this being one of many things that can affect performance), makes the load get very high, and crashes the server. By choosing a good company to partner with, you usually avoid these situations.

Talking

Its cheap, you dont have to bother about administration, you dont need technical skills or monitor the server - even though you dont have veru high security or ability to configure the software. But its more than enough unless you plan to have very critical(like credit card) data.

Well,i think shared hosting is preferrable when budget is low and not much specification is required but assurance of security is at a minimum level.

Exactly. But if budget is really low, stay put with shared hosting. Since web host services are offering low-priced packages these days, it may be time to look around for a new web hosting.
