Resellers Support Small Business with Web Solutions

Web Hosting Talk - Philadelphia, PA - The best way for a business to go online is with help from web hosting resellers, according to new survey statistics released today. Through research conducted by Fasthosts Internet, a leading reseller web hosting provider, resellers know best when it comes to helping a small or medium business develop an online presence. Fasthosts surveyed 163 resellers to find out more about their experience as web hosts. Half of the resellers are actually considered a small business themselves and target local small and medium companies as potential customers. Interestingly enough, about 1 in 5 resellers communicate their services through online networking and more than 75 percent of resellers tailor their customer support on a case per case basis.

The latest Fasthosts survey shed light on who are today’s resellers. By far, statistics showed that the majority are small businesses who offer web solutions in addition to their established services. Totaling 50 percent of the response pool, small resellers appear to be the best resource for advice on the web (even though half of the respondents only have two to five employees). However, they are advising other SMBs in their surrounding communities with 58 percent of resellers marketing their services locally, or within 30 miles from their own address.

Steve Holford, CMO of Fasthosts, said, “Resellers know what it means to be a small business and I think it’s this shared perspective that helps them develop a deep trust with their customers. Add to that, the fact that you have one local business helping another. This dual perspective means resellers can offer niche services to their local business community and in the end, really make an impact on their customers’ online reputations.”

Perhaps the most revealing results from the Fasthosts survey showed how resellers interact with their customers. To establish new contacts, 43 percent use social networking web sites to offer a complete suite of web solutions. At the same time, the majority of resellers (78 percent) emphasize one-to-one relationships and have customers contact them directly for assistance with IT services (offered by 54 percent of resellers).

Holford added, “Online networking has made such an impact on communication that it makes sense for resellers to tap these resources for expanding their customer base. It’s the perfect outlet to share what they offer, the benefits of their services and most importantly, to emphasize that close customer service.”

Recent research of more than 1,800 small US businesses showed that resellers have a rich market for potential customers. In fact 40 percent of the respondents are currently without a web site. Within that group, 24 percent are interested in creating one for their company, something that resellers can offer along with reliable web hosting solutions and quality service.
