A content management system (CMS) is a computer application that supports the creation and modification of digital content using a common user interface and thus usually supporting multiple users working in a collaborative environment. CMSs are generally differentiated into various types like- coupled CMS, decouples CMS, headless CMS, and hybrid CMS. Depending upon each of these types, every CMS has a different ability that affects the performance of the website. Let’s see how each of these CMS’s works when any user requests for some content: 1. Coupled CMS: This type of CMS retrieves the website content from databases, it is then directed via the system and forwarded to servers. From servers, this content is then displayed on the web browser of the user. 2. Decoupled CMS: This type of CMS collects the website content and sends it to the server in the form of files based on web neutral formats. 3. Headless CMS: This type of CMS saves the content of the website in a manageable format and then forwards it to different users for viewing. This type of CMS doesn’t have an inbuilt mechanism for seeing the website content. 4. Hybrid CMS: This type of CMS is formed by combining the versatility of the Headless CMS and coupled or decoupled CMS so that the visitors get the advantage of information implementation and capability of publishing the content specifically built for that website.
